The Burnt Dress
‘Ding dong! Ding dong!’ Hancery zoomed towards the door delightedly, putting down the iron on her lovely dress, and opened the door for her husband. Hancery’s husband, John entered the house. ‘Come in and have some lukewarm tea,’ she said as she went to the kitchen and poured some jasmine tea into the cups.
Meanwhile, they sat on the sofa and watched television while sipping the tea. Soon, they enjoyed the show very much that they laughed and chitchatted together joyfully. ‘Do you smell something?’ Hancery asked as she tilted her head, sniffing a burnt smell.
‘Oh my! My dress!’ Hancery shouted as she rushed to the living room with her mouth hung wide opened. ‘Oh no!’ she exclaimed. John came in and asked, ‘What happened?’ Hancery screamed, ‘My favourite dress has burnt!’ She immediately took the iron away and picked up her dress, ‘My dress!’ There was a burnt hole on her dress. John burst into a laughter. ‘Let us go to the shop a buy a new one,’ John suggested. They went to the shop and bought a lovely dress. I’ve learned that I should be careful when using irons,’ Hancery cried.
